Paris Roubaix: Against All Odds

April 09 – 2018

After the devastating, heartbreak that was the Tour of Flanders, where we watched as the World Champion fought to get other riders to hunt down the leaders and ultimately come up short, it was time for Paris Roubaix. One of the most iconic races is the road racing world, Paris Roubaix flaunts more cobbles than any other race, almost 50km of them! Peter went in the week before a heavy favorite and left the weekend of Flanders in quite the opposite manner. People were betting against him, and Sagan is never one you want to bet against. The heart of the lion was released.

After a solid day pre riding the cobbles, Peter knew exactly what pair of cycling glasses he wanted to wear for the conditions. Keep an eye out for these unreleased glasses to drop soon!

Nerves were building and so was anticipation. A beautiful day was on tap for all of the riders after a week long of rain. Peter signed in, rolled up to the presentation as usual, calm and collected. He was ready to go, but only he knew his plan for the day.

The race was on and the cobbled classic provided quite the spectacle. Fans were shown what it takes to be a legend and the risk needed in order to be rewarded greatly. With around 55km to go, Peter decided to go. An all out attack on the main group was sent in hopes of bridging up to the two riders ahead. Success.

After struggling to find riders that are willing to work with him and give themselves a chance at winning, Peter came across Silvan Dillier, a young, swiss phenom with guts to go stroke for stroke with him. The two stayed away for the remainder of the race and entered the velodrome together.

Sagan would go on to win the race and check off another monumental race on his list. Paris Roubaix saw the World Champion win this race since the first time in 37 years, but who better than Peter?
